The loss of a loved one is a difficult experience in so many ways. Grieving family members and friends often are confronted with dozens of decisions about the funeral - all of which must be made quickly and often under great emotional duress.

Funerals rank among the most expensive purchases many consumers will ever make and the high cost of funeral services can result in severe financial burden for anyone. A traditional funeral costs well over $10,000 and that is not including the "extras" such as obituary placement, flower arrangements, or limo services.

An increasing number of people are planning their own funerals, saving their loved ones the stress of making several decisions in hours and the financial burden. But many people don't even know where to start to pre-plan their funeral.

The Freedom Funeral Story -

For a large part the funeral industry is just that, an industry. In the USA there are about 23,000 funeral homes. Large corporations have bought out many local, independent funeral homes and have not changed the names but have increased prices considerably. Many have a vested interest in providing profits to shareholders on Wall Street rather than providing caring, sensibly priced services to families to Main Street.

The concept of Freedom Funeral began when one of our founders lost his mother and father within six months of each other. He was astounded to find the cost of two small, traditional funerals to be in excess of $25,000. He was also dismayed and angered by the high-pressure sales pitch he encountered and the fact that the funeral home used his love of his parents to up sell him additional unnecessary products and services. Fueled by his anger, he began to research the funeral industry.

What he found was that the mark up on funeral goods and services was, by all traditional business standards, huge. In fact, they were some of the highest mark ups he had ever heard of. Lack of public awareness and unwillingness to shop or price a funeral at different funeral homes had led to what he considered to be arrogance and price gauging by the funeral homes in the area. To make matters worse, he found that many of the traditional funeral homes are actually owned by one of three publicly corporations. As such it was hard for our founder to believe that any large, publicly traded corporation would care about a family in their time of need over its desire to increase profits and their bottom line. His frustration and anger gave way to the concept of Freedom Funeral Services.

Freedom Funeral was founded to give people a choice in their time of need. Because we are independent as well as locally owned and operated, we are bale to focus on providing you the memorial you desire at a cost you can afford. The Freedom Alternative(TM) is one you will see with your first call to us. A member of Freedom's caring, professional staff will assist you through the entire process of planning the memorial. It is our desire to demystify the funeral process, thereby ensuring that people are treated fairly. Freedom offers you the choice of an in-home consultation, making your arrangements through our virtual funeral home or at one of our convenient locations.

The fact is that when death occurs those responsible for planning the funeral are often overwhelmed by emotion and forced to make decisions within a matter of hours. As a result, they are pressured into services, which include things that they can't afford not if they were thinking clearly, would want. Our staff will work with families to handle every aspect of the service and will not pressure anyone to commit to anything they can't afford or shouldn't need. Freedom also works closely with all the houses of worship in the community and can help coordinate a service in familiar surroundings.
