V-DOT budget for local cities for the next six years is exactly...Zero
What do you think about V-DOT's proposal to cut funding to Hampton Roads for the next six years?

I am an expert marksman and know right from wrong. Any law abiding citizen should have ready access to fire arms excluding assult weapons. Let us defend ourselves without being controlled by conservatives who want to tie our hands. I'm tired of veing a victim.

Norfolk's Grand Illumination will go on despite tough economic climate
This year eight of Norfolk's city buildings and nine city garages will be lit up for the cityÂs annual grand illumination. The city of Norfolk says while taxpayers are footing the power bill, the city will still participate to lift the community's spirits and spread holiday cheer.
Do you think the city of Norfolk should be spending money on holiday lights during these tough economic times?
Government's New Mammogram Recommendations
Many doctors and breast cancer patients are rebelling against new government guidelines for breast cancer screening. A government task force now says routine mammograms are not necessary for most women in their 40s. It says low-risk women should not be screened until their 50s, and then have it every other year. The American Cancer Society recommends a mammogram every year for women in their 40s. The government says too often, women in their 40s are mistakenly told they have cancer when they don't. Do you trust the government's recommendation?
Single mom refuses Afghanistan deployment to take care of 10-month-old son
An Army cook and single mom may face criminal charges after she skipped her deployment flight to Afghanistan because, she said, no one was available to care for her infant son while she was overseas.
Spc. Alexis Hutchinson, 21, claims she had no choice but to refuse deployment orders because the only family she had to care for her 10-month-old son - her mother - was overwhelmed by the task, already caring for three other relatives with health problems.
Her civilian attorney, Rai Sue Sussman, said Monday that one of Hutchinson's superiors told her she would have to deploy anyway and place the child in foster care.
Do you think the Army made the right call?
-
Single Parent plans are reviewd at least once a year with the soldier and commanders. All plans must have at least one back up plan in case the first plan falls through. Final option: Request a discharge, not miss deployment! Her choice, not the Army's.

Approximatley 40 years ago, Woman's Lib fought to keep single Moms on active duty instead of being chaptered out of the Military. The military set down guidelines, that still exist for single Moms.

I'll ask the non-PC question - where is the father and/or father's family. There is a simple answer - Bad Conduct Discharge and out in this crappy economy.

Times are tough, but not for Hampton Roads city managers
Hundred-thousand dollar salaries, free health benefits - a $12,000 car allowance? NewsChannel 3 is examining the compensation of local city managers at a time when city workers are taking pay cuts or facing layoffs.
-
Yes i work for the city also and this will be the second year without anykind of raise , as far as i know the CITYMANAGER works for the CITY not for a corp.where's the money coming from i thought we were in a budget and tax revenue shortfall

As a city employee who barely makes enough money to support myself I feel Spores salary is rediculous.

Spore got a pay raise. The rest of the city hasn't seen a raise in years. I guarantee that he wouldn't offer an across the board 1% decrease if he hadn't seen an increase for himself first. Good for DeSteph for standing up and making the right choice.

What would you ask the new governor?
NewsChannel 3 will be interviewing Bob McDonnell today and we want to take some of your questions to him. What do you want to ask Virginia's governor-elect?

If Health Care Reform is passed with a state option are you still planning to opt out the state of Virginia? If so how will I a soon to be Veteran of 14 yrs that will be discharged with a medical disability will be able to afford and/or find health insurance?

Start by adding tolls and a 5 cent gas tax. We never know from one day to the next what a gallon of gas is going to cost anyway. Be up front and just do it.

How do you propose to improve the financial burden and morale of the Virginia State Police?

NewsChannel 3 has learned that some inmates are getting the swine flu vaccine before some hampton roads families.
But other inmates will have to wait like the rest of us.
Today Virginia Beach, the Western Tidewater Regional Jail and the State Department of Corrections told NewsChannel 3 they are waiting for the vaccine, but will follow the CDC and Department of Health guidelines and will only give it to prisoners who are considered high risk.
Newport News has no plans to vaccinate any prisoners and Portsmouth will only give the vaccine if an inmate catches swine flu.
But Hampton's jail says it ordered enough vaccine to give it to every prisoner
NewsChannel 3wants your 3 cents: Do you think prisoners should be getting the swine flu vaccine even if they are not considered high risk?
-
If any in the prisons should get the shots it should be the guards, not the prisoners. whrer would they get the flu. they are in jail. give the shot to people who need it first...

i cant believe that prisoners will get that swine flu shot before me or my family. im in the high risk, i have diabetes and asthma and broncitis thats just not right for a convict gets shots before regular citizens. prisoners should be last

I don't think that inmates should have any priority in any medical procedure. Vacinations should be for those law abiding citizens that need them. They get better care than folks that try to stay out of trouble. that our elected officials receive.

Should swine flu vaccines be reserved for Gitmo detainees or should it be used for Americans still waiting today?
The H1N1 vaccine is in high demand with short supply all across the nation, including the Hampton Roads area. Well there is some available but its being offered to detainees and personnel at Guantanamo Bay. Officials say that people in these detention facilities are at high risk for swine flu but critics say that Americans still waiting should get it first. However, the vaccination is mandatory for all uniformed personnel where as detainees have the option of taking it or not.

NO! Incarcerated has insurance thru the system. I have to pay a higher co-pay with insurance, then the inmates. They are taken care of very well.

They are still human even though they are incarcerated. Would you rather they catch it and sent it to the homes of the workers that come into contact with them?
Pauley @ 11:25 PM EST, Nov 2, 2009

The H1N1 vaccine hasn't been tested as it was "fast tracked" a truth that the world health org admits to. I say let the prisoners be the test subjects. I don't believe the swine flu is any worse than the seasonal flu. I don't think anyone should have that poison shot put in their bodies.

Teens cited after rapping fast food order
A group of teen boys get a ticket from police for rapping in a McDonald's. The teens thought it would be funny to place their orders while rapping. But the McDonald's manager wasn't laughing. She called the police who slapped them with a ticket for disorderly conduct. McDonald's released a statement saying the employee felt her safety was at risk because of the teens' actions, not because of their rapping. What do you think?

Why are you suprised? VDOT has been telling the GA for 5 years that their balloon was going to burst. Your politicians are out for themseleves. 5ct increase in the gas tax will resolve the problem and cost the average family less than $75 per year. Stop listening to the lies and do the math.

I sure would hate for anyone to be having to pay a toll just to have to drive through anywhere on 64 including interstates like 664 or 264, especially those having to drive through there just to get to work & back home every day. Toll costs can really add up.
