CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina quarterback T.J. Yates says he's trying not to worry about the criticism he's hearing as the Tar Heels struggle to reach bowl eligibility.

The junior threw for just 64 yards and had a key momentum-turning interception in the Tar Heels' 30-27 home loss to Florida State on Thursday night, a game in which they blew a 24-6 second-half lead. Yates says he heard plenty of screaming from home fans afterward and was even hit by a pin or a coin thrown by someone in the stands.

The Tar Heels (4-3, 0-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) next travel to No. 14 Virginia Tech for a second straight Thursday night game.
