RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Elizabeth Edwards says she wants her children to love their father and see him in a positive light.
The separated wife of former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards said in an interview on NBC's "Today" show Wednesday that the two-time presidential candidate isn't the same person she married more than 30 years ago. But she says the children may have to rely on him if her cancer takes a bad turn.
Elizabeth Edwards says their new parenting dynamics are "going pretty well." Two of their children are still preteens.
John Edwards has acknowledged that he fathered a child with his mistress as he campaigned for president. Elizabeth Edwards says the decision to end the marriage was "terrifying."
