In early May, 82 year-old Rachael Lewis, was kidnapped and driven to a local bank where she was forced to empty her entire bank account.

Lewis was at a Franklin Food Lion where the incident took place. After purchasing her groceries, she was forced by a woman to get into a car where a man was waiting.

"They followed me out of Food Lion, all the way down and she told me 'get in the car'." explains Lewis.

She said the unknown woman held something to her back.

"I didn't say nothing. I was just doing what they told me."

The woman, with the man in the backseat and Rachael Lewis in the front passenger seat, drove to the nearby bank where Rachael Lewis does her personal banking.

She continues to tell her story.

"She went with me into the bank and acted like she was helping me along and after the girl said how much money I had she said get the whole $1,200."

Bank surveillance photos captured the entire transaction take place.

After the withdrawal was complete, the kidnappers drove Rachael Lewis back to Food Lion dropped her off and drove away.

Lewis' family is in disbelief that anyone would take advantage of their elderly relative.

"They'll get what's coming to them. They will." says Sally Adams, Rachael Lewis' niece.

Rachael Lewis, a strong independent woman, has been completely changed.

"They have just really, in a sense, ruined her life or changed it because she doesn't want to go out by herself." says Adams.

In hindsight, Rachael Lewis believes that her kidnappers had been watching her for months. They knew exactly where she did her personal banking, without ever asking.
