Amtrak Service has been suspended between Richmond and Newport News due to a collision and subsequent derailment involving two CSX freight trains earlier this morning.
Crews are on site, evaluating the situation, but service restoration is not expected today. Both tracks through the area are blocked.
Amtrak has made arrangements for limited alternate transportation; however, travelers are urged to seek other options for travel between Richmond and Newport News today.
