During the month of June 2009, Virginia Beach police responded to numerous reports of car theft from vehicles in various locations across the city. Several of the break-ins happened in the Reflections apartment complex and Waterfront Apartments. In two of these cases, the suspect left behind blood from cuts received from breaking car windows to get in.

Forensic technicians collected the blood for analysis. In October the suspect was identified, through DNA analysis, to be 27-year-old Christopher Babb of the 700 block of Northgate Dr., Norfolk, VA. Detectives learned that the suspect was currently in the Norfolk City Jail on charges in that jurisdiction. POlice were able to link Babb to numerous other car larcenies after further investigation.

Last Monday, eight warrants were obtained for the suspect for the charge of Grand Larceny. The warrants were served to Babb while he was still in the Norfolk City Jail. Four cases were cleared by Babb's arrest, totaling over $5,000 stolen out of vehicles. The case remains under investigation.
