It was a riveting day in the courtroom as Rick Eddleman was sentenced

Eddleman's family testified he is a loving father of great integrity.

But prosecutors said the amount Eddleman stole from the Decipher Game Company over nine years is more than every inmate has stolen in the Norfolk City Jail combined.

Now he is getting jail time for his white collar crime.

Decipher President Cindy Thornburg, isn't certain justice will prevail.

"I don't anticipate we will recover 8.9 million dollars from the defendant but it was a small victory that he admitted the embezzlement he admitted the misappropriations "

Decipher CEO Warren Holland, testified that his brother in law not only stole from the company - he took money from his daughter's trust fund through the company.

Rick Eddleman was convicted in a plea deal last March, but when NewsChannel 3 talked to him before his sentencing he seemed to blame the company for his crimes

"But what I've not heard is any comment from Decipher that they too had some responsibility in the failings of Decipher. They have allowed this to be the scapegoat for the entire situation "

A situation that cost more than 90 people their jobs, because as the company lost money layoffs followed.

Eddleman repeated on the stand today at his sentencing that he deserves a second chance.

"Do you think you deserve their trust again?"

"I would like to think I could earn their trust again, don't think that I will I don't know."
