Elizabeth City, N.C. The Elizabeth City police department has charged 22 people with a total of 72 felony charges following a 3-month long investigation.
'Operation Crack Down' was initiated in response to citizen concerns of drug-related gang activity occurring in Elizabeth City. The investigation involved the use of an undercover police officer, Officer C.B. Penn, who purchased narcotics throughout all parts of Elizabeth City.
The investigation enabled the department to solve five shootings that occurred in the city within the last two weeks.
