Chesapeake Child Protective Services is now investigating a Chesapeake mom and dad for an unconventional form of punishment for their 15-year-old son's grades. It's a story we've been following and viewers have flooded us with emails overwhelmingly in support of the parents, who reacted to the scores of emails we showed them.

Glancing over at his son Trenton, or Trey as he's also called, Don General is feeling good. "Trey this is a good one....it says kudos to the parents." Emails that commend the father for his unusual form of punishment over his son's grades....emails encouraging him to "keep up the good work"...another one that reads, "I support Trenton's parents."

This emails are all in response to a story on News Channel 3----a story we did on the General's unconventional discipline over Trenton's report card. His parents say they've tried everything from tutoring, printing off extra credit assignments, taking him to doctors who say say he has no learning disability....no A-D-D or A-D-H-D.

With his latest grades Trenton was given the option--lose his cell phone for two weeks or hold a sign displaying his failing grades on a street corner near his home for two hours..he chose the sign. Viewers fired off emails....this one from Donna... "Awesome parents! I'm thinking of doing that to our son if he doesn't improve his grades. This one from Valecia reads we "need more parents like you who aren't afraid to step out of the box for their children."

Don was encouraged. "It shows that we're not alone, there are a lot of frustrated parents out there who just want the best for their kids." Trenton felt good about the emails too. "I say thanks for the support because I'm doing much better."

But earlier in the day a surprising visit by Chesapeake Child Protective Services. When Trenton answered the door---his reaction? "Oh wow!" Don says it was two workers who told him, "they were following protocol, that someone had seen the publicity and put in a report, so they had to do their job to make sure Trey was safe."

And it wasn't just Trey who had to be seen according to Don. "They need to put eyes on my ninth month old..... she said she has to see all of the children in the house so I understand that they've gone to my eight year old school to visit him in school to talk to him about our parenting."

So was this all worth it? Don it quite clear on that. "To see this community response and more importantly to see the change in my son absolutely I'd do it all over again."

A Chesapeake Child Protective Services representative would not comment specifically about this case or who filed the report, but did say one of their guidelines does call for investigating cases of bizarre discipline to see if it's causing mental abuse, psychological or emotional harm.
