You'll have five chances to get a dose of the H1N1 vaccine this week.

Clinics are being held in Hampton, Newport News and York County.

• Today: Bruton High School, 185 E. Rochambeau Drive, in York County, 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., but the clinic leader may close the line early if the line's long or vaccine runs out.

• Wednesday: Warwick High School, 51 Copeland Lane, Newport News, 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., but the clinic leader may close the line early if the line's long or vaccine runs out. Another clinic will be at Bethel High School, 4 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

• Thursday: Hampton High School, 4 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

• Friday: Hampton Health Department, 3130 Victoria Blvd., 8:30 a.m . until 4 p.m.

Clinics are intended for ages 6 months to 24 years old, pregnant women and caretakers of children younger than 6 months. Children do not need to be enrolled in public school to attend.

The clinics in York and Newport News will primarily carry nasal spray vaccine, which is designed for healthy people ages 2 to 49 who are not pregnant. A limited supply of injectable vaccine will be available for pregnant women and others in priority groups who cannot receive the nasal spray vaccine, Peninsula Health District director David Trump said. Preservative-free vaccines will be available for pregnant women and children 6 months to 35 months old.

Vaccine will also be available by appointment at the Peninsula Health Center, 416 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., next to Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News.

Call 594-7069 from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. weekdays to schedule an appointment. Appointments are intended for high-priority groups, including health-care workers who have direct contact with patients and adults 25 to 64 who have a severe health concern that increases their risk of complications.

Incidents of influenza-like illness is down to 8 percent of emergency department and urgent care visits, down from a high of 15 percent for the week of Oct. 24, the Virginia Department of Health announced last week.

One million doses of H1N1 vaccine have been delivered or are in transit to vaccination sites across the state. A flu clinic locater tool is expected to launch today at www.H1N1Get1.com.
