For many, "trick or treat" is just a catch phrase that comes around every Halloween. Nathan Matter says this year, it took on a whole new meaning, right after he heard a knock at the door.

As soon as Matter opened up the door, he got mased in the face, by a person he thought was a trick or treater--- that ended up in his house.

In a matter of seconds he was wrestling with someone dressed as Mike Myers, the villain from the Halloween movies.

"I thought I was getting robbed, because I didnt know who it was, and I couldn't see. The person didn't say anything the whole time. I couldn't distinguish a voice," he said.

The fight spilled onto his front yard, where Matter said the masked attacker hit him with a baseball bat before taking off.

It wasn't until he found out who was behind the mask when he realized this wasn't a random crime.

The day after the attack, investigators arrested 32-year-old Angela Hart, who is Matter's ex-girlfriend. He said he broke up with Hart about a week before the attack.

Even though the two were only together for a couple months, Matter said he never expected she would do something like that.

"It was unbelievable to me, I didn't think she was that kind of person, I thought she was more of an adult. Had a lot of things going for her, I'm not sure why she would do that," he said.

Hart faces two felony charges including breaking and entering, and aggravated malicious wounding. Matter said he'll use this experience as a lesson learned---when it comes to trick or treating, and with the women he dates.
