A woman warrior who changed the face of the military was laid to rest Friday.

Gladys Carter was one of the first black women to serve our country in World War II and one of the proud leaders of the National Association of Black Military Women.

You heard some folks joke about Gladys always being in control, well she was. So much so that in the program for the service there was a note - from Gladys.

In the note she wrote "I wanted to be remembered as a happy person who loved to talk sing and laugh with my family and friends."
