Just in time for the Fourth of July hundreds of Navy reservists from the logistics support group, "Forward India," arrived at Naval Station Norfolk this morning.

The reservists have spent the past eight months working as customs inspectors in Kuwait and Iraq.

Four year old Emma Vallery is still too young to understand what her daddy does, but her aunt Jill says she now understands what deployments are.

"That's a daddy's girl she really really misses her daddy. We had some transition issues, having separation anxiety. But she's managed to come through very well."

A separation that can be hard for any age. Margaret Hardesty has been through this before, but says it never gets easier.

"You can't imagine I've been on pins and needles for a week, because they kept changing the date he was coming home.")

But finally the moment came and one by one the sailors walked out with bags in hand. Excitement that was almost too much for little Emma who grabbed onto her dad's leg and wouldn't let go. A Fourth of July homecoming none of these families will ever forget.

These reservists are just the first group that will be returning home from this deployment. The second half will come back in a couple weeks.
