New details about the police chase ban in a South Carolina town.
The mayor who told police they could no longer chase criminals in a car or on foot is changing her policy.
Just days after Mayor Sallie Peake passionately defended her new policy saying chases cost the city too much money, she announced she is doing away with the policy.
The change of heart follows a letter from the town solicitor.
It told the mayor that her policy conflicted with officers' sworn duty to uphold the law because they could not pursue fleeing felons.
So, now Peake says officers can do whatever they want.
Peake says she is not happy about resuming chases but she made her decision out of respect for the person who sent the letter.
