RICHMOND, Va. - Virginia State Police say one person was killed when a tour bus belonging to Miley Cyrus went off the road and overturned, but the 16-year-old 'Hannah Montana' star was not on board was on a different bus that was travelling in another direction at the time of the accident.

The driver, 53-year-old William G. Douglas of Austin, Texas died at the scene.

MIley Cyrus and her family shared their heartfelt support and prayers for Douglas.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Bill 'Uncle Bill' Douglas," read a statement posted on the singer's Web site. "Members of our tour are like members of our family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family in the midst of this tragedy. He will truly be missed."

Marty Zilio was also injured in the crash. Zilio is a member of Cyrus' production crew and was transported by ambulance to Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg for treatment of minor injuries.

The bus overturned around 8:15 a.m. Friday on Interstate 85 about 40 miles south of Richmond near mile marker 56. The bus left the road, hit the left shoulder guardrail and slid along the guardrail for 800 feet before the guardrail ran out.

Once the guardrail ran out the bus his the soft shoulder of the road and rolled over onto its left side.

The first firefighter on the scene said some of the passengers were trying to climb out the front windshield to get out. Most of them were either asleep or just waking up when the accident occurred.

Virginia State Police say the roads were wet from heavy rain Thursday night, but they are not blaming the weather for the crash.

According to Miley Cyrus' Web site, the pop singer is scheduled to perform Sunday in Greensboro, N.C. She last performed at the at the Nassau Coliseum in New York on Wednesday and Thursday.

Miley Cyrus is the daughter of country star Billy Ray Cyrus, who also appears on 'Hanna Montana'.
