Norfolk, Va. - A 24-hour child and youth center is officially open at Naval Station Norfolk.
The daycare celebrated this morning with a grand opening and tours for parents.
The center will take care of up to 22 children at one time whose parents are working various shifts in the military.
It will take kids from six weeks up to twelve years old.
This is the second center of its kind in Hampton Roads and many military parents like Kathleen Jennings are thrilled to have a center like this nearby.
"The importance of it being on base I can't even explain. I can walk over at lunch time if I need to and see him. The providers are great."
The center is 4,000 square feet and cost $1.2 million to build.
