As an army recruiter, it's Ed Tucker's job to convince others to join the armed forces.

But after nearly 20 years the tables have turned: now Ed will have to convince employers to give him a job.

"Of course I'm nervous," he said.

Tucker will retire from the army this summer and wants to find a new career. But, looking at new options also comes with more questions, especially for a soldier who hasn't had a civilian job in nearly two decades.

"The hardest thing, is what next? What do I want to do next? What kind of job?"

Ed signed up for the "Recruit Military Expo", a job fair tailored specifically for veterans. It's designed so that job seekers like Tucker can meet one on one with businesses looking for those who come from a military background.

"You know you have to go out and get what you want, but it's good that these jobs fairs are there to continue to take care of those that served," Tucker said.

Ed knows not everyone will walk away with a job after the career fair. He says like any true soldier, all he can do is be ready for his next mission that lies ahead.

"I'm prepared, I have resumes, a suit and tie, just a good frame of mind. Just eager to go out there and see what they have to offer," he added.

The career fair will be held this Thursday. To register, just visit the WTKR.com homepage under the "Seen on NewsChannel 3" section.
