Portsmouth police arrest man wanted for robbing Suffolk Food Lion with knife
Suffolk, Va. – Suffolk police are crediting an observant Portsmouth detective with catching a man wanted for a robbery in Suffolk and possibly preventing a second robbery in Portsmouth.

23-year-old Justin Paul Woodington allegedly robbed the Food Lion on Portsmouth Blvd. last night at knifepoint.

Witnesses provided Suffolk police with a partial license plate number of the getaway car and Suffolk police sent the vehicle and the suspect's description to surrounding jurisdictions.

Several hours later after receiving the alert, Portsmouth Detective Saucer checked the Food Lion store located in the 1200 block of London Boulevard in Portsmouth and located a vehicle in the parking lot matching the getaway car's description provided.

Portsmouth officers entered the Food Lion and arrested Woodington, who was carrying a knife.

Woodington was charged with one count of armed robbery. He is currently being held in Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.
