The Virginia Department of Transportation is putting a Pothole Blitz into effect to put some ease onto the cars of Hampton Roads drivers.
Governor Bob McDonnell mandated the pothole blitz for the month of March and VDOT official Bill Collier says that the governors blitz has really motivated them to focus on fixing the potholes.
The pothole blitz does a couple of things one-- it does focus V-DOT's employees and let them know that this is the biggest priority-- it also lets citizens know that we are paying attention to this.
It has only been 10 days since VDOT began the blitz but theyve already filled thousands of holes.
VDOT also says that now the weather is warming up, the potholes are being filled with a stronger mix for a more permanent patch.
VODT is also looking into repaving whole sections of road around Brambleton Ave. in downtown Norfolk, and near the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel.
