A thief was stopped by a Wal-Mart greeter but got away with some pricy items. Virginia Beach Police believe it's not the only place he's hit.
Surveillance video shows a man dressed in all black with sunglasses. He tried to make a getaway with a $900 stolen laptop.
He doesn't get very far before a greeter tries to stop him. He is seen hiding behind a woman and her shopping cart as the Wal-Mart greeter chases after him.
Security cameras caught every move, from the moment he threw the laptop into his getaway car to his dive into the passenger side window.
Virginia Beach Police spokesperson Adam Bernstein says it seems the man's crime spree did not end there.
Bernstein says, "Detectives believe this same man may have shoplifted from three other stores in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake, including a Target right off First Colonial Rd."
Police say, in each case, the shoplifter dives into a parked car, making a getaway with pricy electronics.
Bernstein says they want to catch this person before more stuff gets stolen, or worse, someone gets hurt.
He says, "There were plenty of pedestrians around. You have somebody diving in head first into a car and then that car is leaving the parking lot at a high rate of speed. They could have hit someone."
