Newport News Police say a man has been arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after a Hampton man was found shot in the leg Tuesday morning.
Police responded to the shooting in the 700 block of Jefferson Avenue around 10:25 a.m.
The victim, a 34-year-old man, was suffering from a gunshot wound to his left leg.
Jamarus Granger, 29, was developed as someone possibly involved in the shooting. He was located, detained, and found in possession of a firearm that had fired one round.
Granger was not charged in the shooting incident, only for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The investigation is ongoing.
