Newport News Police say a man has been arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after a Hampton man was found shot in the leg Tuesday morning.

Police responded to the shooting in the 700 block of Jefferson Avenue around 10:25 a.m.

The victim, a 34-year-old man, was suffering from a gunshot wound to his left leg.
