Virginia Beach, Va.- The city of Virginia Beach may soon be looking for a new superintendent.
Dr. James Merrill is a finalist for a superintendent job in Wake County, North Carolina.
This information came from school board officials who say they’ve narrowed their search to three candidates who will visit the county next week.
Merrill has been the superintendent for Virginia Beach since 2006. He started out as an English teacher in 1973.
He was once the Associate Superintendent for Administration and Finance in Wake County for 16 years.
