Kitty Hawk, NC – Dominion NC Power employees are taking action to help students in the Outer Banks kick off the school year the right way.
On Friday, August 2, 2013, a group of Dominion NC Power employees came out to the Kitty Hawk Walmart parking lot, with a bucket truck.
Crews were not on the scene to make outage repairs – this time, they were there to help students in need.
The Dominion employees took time off work to organize a school supply drive to help kick off the Tax Free Weekend. The volunteers collected school supplies in the bucket truck and money donations in a hard hat. They also passed out cold drinks, water, and energy-saving tips to shoppers as they walked by.
Everything collected was donated to Faith Baptist Church. The items will be distributed on Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. for all Dare County students, Kindergarten through fifth grade.
