UPDATE: Police say they have now arrested 46-year-old Charles William Robinson in connection to a hit and run accident that occurred on December 10th.
Police say he has now been charged with felony hit and run and reckless driving.
Investigators used witness information, video and they received help from a local dealership to find Robinson and the vehicle. They say the vehicle was missing a passenger sideview mirror.
They were able to find Robinson at 10:30 a.m. in a parking lot in the 200 block of Arthur Way.
Newport News, Va. – Police are looking for a suspect after a bicyclist was hit by a car in Newport News, and the driver fled the scene.
At about 8:05 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, police and medics responded to the area of Brick Kiln Boulevard and Jefferson Avenue to a report of a bicyclist being hit by a car that had left the scene.
Police say the victim, a man appearing to be in his fifties, was riding a bicycle eastbound on the right shoulder of Brick Kiln Boulevard and was wearing a reflective vest when he was struck by an unknown vehicle that did not stop. Medics transported the victim to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
At this time, the only description of the suspect vehicle is a red “sporty style” two door sedan, possibly a Chevrolet Cavalier or a Pontiac.
