Newport News, Va. – Newport News Police have arrested a man who had been wanted in connection to the stabbing of a church pastor that occurred on December 9th.
Police responded to the Body of Christ Outreach Church that day around 5:30 p.m.
The 52-year-old victim, who serves as a pastor at the church, told police he found an unauthorized person in a back room. The man, who had reportedly been attending the church recently, had a knife and attacked the pastor after he was confronted about being in the building.
The pastor suffered a non-life threatening stab wound to the shoulder.
The man, who was identified as 32-year-old Roman Telfare-Wright, fled the building when people arrived. Warrants were obtained for his arrest. He was found on December 21st around 2:00 p.m. in the 12000 block of Jefferson Avenue.
He has been charged with Malicious Wounding and Burglary: Entering Building to Commit Larceny/Assault & Battery/Etc.
