The incident just after 11:00 a.m. at a pond located near the 5400 block of Larissa Court.

The boy, 11-year-old Demetirous Jordan, was walking on the pond when the ice broke and he fell through into waist-deep water.

He was pulled from the water by his brother and other neighbors by the time authorities arrived. He was evaluated by medical personnel at the scene before being released to his parents.

The boy spoke to reporters after the incident. He said he was "dancing on the ice" when he fell in.

His mother, Valecia, says she's thankful for the quick actions of her neighbors who were there to help pull Demetirous from the water.

"I love them. I don't know who they are but I love you. And I thank you. And I thank God for you and for helping my son out. Because without them, and without the grace of God, he wouldn't be here," she says.
