Local police foundation teams up with Smoothie Stop to create new menu item honoring fallen officers

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - TheVirginia Beach Police Memorial Foundationis marking 10 years of service by partnering with a local restaurant.

TheSmoothie Stop Café introduced a new menu item to support the foundation and honor fallen officers. It was created by Virginia Beach Police Chief Paul Neudigate, retired VBPD Police Chief Al Jacocks and Terry Lynn Phillips, the widow of fallen Virginia Beach Police Officer Mike Phillips.

Police officials and Virginia Beach Mayor Bobby Dyer were at the Laskin Road shop Friday for the special launch event, which took place on the one-year anniversary of the location.

News 3 spoke with Terry Lynn, who shared her thoughts on the partnership.

“The community in Virginia Beach is amazing their business owners are amazing, and I cannot be more grateful for them to honor my husband,” she said.

The new menu item will remain on the menu at all Virginia Beach locations.

Proceeds from item sales will be donated this fall on October 28, which is National First Responders Day.
