The award-winning journalist and Hampton Roads native has returned to the region and now will be back on TV in her hometown. April got her start in news as a reporter for WTKR and has worked nationally as a correspondent for Inside Edition and BET. She has also appeared on network TV as a pop culture expert on HLN, MSNBC and FOX. April returned to Coastal Virginia to care for her aging parents and is an Assistant Professor at the Scripps Howard School of Journalism at Hampton University. A graduate of the University of Virginia, she lives in Chesapeake with her husband and two children.
An Emmy-nominated and AP award-winning TV host, public speaker and certified broadcast meteorologist, Cheryl has appeared nationally on “The Real” daytime talk-show, The Weather Channel, The AccuWeather Channel, Fox News Channel, CNBC and other networks. She is a former Mrs. Virginia International and speaks world-wide at various company events and conferences about national disaster preparedness. FEMA recently recognized her efforts to educate citizens with a “Preparedness Award for Awareness to Action.” Cheryl is a native of Richmond and graduate of Pennsylvania State University, She, her husband and their “adorable” cats have called Hampton Roads home for more than a decade.
