Coast Comedy Live Season 2

Coast Comedy Live season 2 went out with a bang, thanks to comics Jounte Ferguson and Donna Lewis.

In the end, the grand prize of our Hottest Mic contest — which includes $500, the coveted Hottest Mic trophy, and an appearance on Coast Live — went to Dewayne White, who amassed nearly 4,000 votes.

Episode 6 (8/25/23)

Jounte Ferguson

Jounté is from Chesapeake, VA and hosts the open mic at Cozzy’s Comedy Club on Thursday’s. You can find him performing anywhere from your local coffee shop to the nearest comedy club or doing a comedy sketch on his own YouTube channel.

Donna Lewis

A stand-up comedian, sketch and improv performer based out of Hampton, Donna has opened for comedy legend Marsha Warfield, Maria Bamford and Michael Ian Black and has performed at well-known clubs in LA, Atlanta, San Diego, New Orleans, Boston and NYC. She’s been seen at national comedy festivals and locally with her own improve group.

Episode 5 (8/18/23)

Cletus Kassady

With energy and relatability, Cletus has been entertaining audiences on national television and across the country at churches and colleges, and for corporate groups and charities. He has recently toured the country as a part of the Real Comedians of Social Media Tour and the Slightly Problematic Tour. His popular podcast “This Ain’t Church” can be heard on all digital platforms. You can currently catch him playing the role of Deacon Charles in the KevOnStage Studios produced sitcom “Churchy” found on the KevOnStage Studios App, on his morning Facebook Live show “C U in the Morning” and as a co-host on The Michael Colyar Morning Show.

Robin Phoenix

After serving over twenty years in the Army, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Robin Phoenix Johnson found her new mission in healing people, organizations, and communities through humor. She created Best Medicine Brigade to give veteran and military spouse comedians performance opportunities. The Brigade is comprised of 18 veteran and military spouse comedians that perform all over the country. . She started by doing comedy in American Legions and VFW Posts. Voted as Charleston's Best Comic of 2022, Robin is currently working with Bang Productions TV (local Charleston company) on The Southern Momma and Glitter & Grit Comedy Tours.

Episode 4 (8/11/23)

Dewayne White

Dewayne is a DC-based standup comedian and a combat-wounded Army veteran who served in the Army for 23 years. His humor is drawn from his unique take on his military experience, his life as a husband and father, and the general craziness of life. Dewayne is also an instructor for the Armed Forces Arts Partnership’s Comedy Bootcamp, a 6-week crash course for servicemembers, veterans, and their family members.

Brenae Williams

Brenae is a native of Norfolk, VA. She's been doing comedy since 2015 and has no plans of stopping. She's performed at The Comedy Chateau and Flappers Comedy Club in Los Angeles, CA. She's also performed at Cozzy's Comedy Club in Newport News, the Virginia Beach Funnybone, and several other local shows and clubs.

Jay Gates

Jay Gates is an award winning comedian, and Host of the Emmy™-nominated craft beer show Untapped.  He is also an actor, writer and director with credits that include “Transformers III” and Showtime’s Emmy™-winning series “Homeland.” He has appeared on CBS, ABC, HBO, TNT, PBS, Discovery Channel, TLC, Lifetime, History Channel, Travel Channel, and stages from Times Square to Las Vegas to LA.

Ivan Martin

Originally from Jacksonville, Florida Ivan brings characters to the stage that present an outlook on the hardships of life from a gentleman’s perspective. While in the Navy, Ivan discovered his love for stand-up.  Since then he founded the Baltimore Comedy Festival and was named Baltimore’s Best Comedian 2020 by Baltimore Sun, all while hosting Baltimore City’s longest running comedy open mic - Art of Comedy at Motor House.  More recently you’ve seen him perform for Levity Live on Norwegian Cruise Lines, Empower by Go Daddy, and the We Give Black Fest.

J. Jamaal

Born and raised in Illinois, J. is a military veteran and father of 5 who now performs in comedy clubs, churches, comedy rooms and closets around Hampton Road. He is also one half of the Church Parking Lot Podcast with fellow comedian, B. Allen.

Gary Mitchell

What makes Gary special is his ability to paint the picture through story telling and physical comedy. The Virginia Beach comic is also a singer, musician and actor, and contributes his time to mentoring and counseling youth at an independent living facility in Chesapeake.

Episode 1 (7/21/23)

PT Bratton

A pastor-turned-comedian, PT delivers family-friendly comedy through a uniquely lighthearted mixture of perspectives. He has been in the comedy and performing arts arena for the past 8 years and has performed on all kinds of stages including the iconic and historic Warner Theatre in Washington D.C. and the White House.

Joy Julian

A former high school English teacher and librarian. Joy rethought her life goals after being diagnosed with Stage 1 Triple Negative Breast Cancer. She now performs for clubs, corporate events, country clubs and fundraisers all over the East Coast and has appeared on television in shows like Happily Never After, Monsters & Mysteries in America, and Ice-Cold Killers, as well as on the big screen in a Transformer movie.
