2 displaced following Suffolk house fire

SUFFOLK, Va. - Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to a house fire Wednesday afternoon that displaced two people.

Crews arrived to the scene at 12:17 p.m., in the 100 block of Withers Street, the Magnolia neighborhood near Beamons Mill.

Battalion Chief Demitri Wilson says heavy flames were coming from the garage as crews arrived.

Officials say no injuries were reported, but two adults were displaced.

Responding units included Ladder 3, EMS-2, Rescue 1, Battalions 1 and 3, Engines 2 and 6, Medic 10, Car 1, and FM-1. The fire was called under control at 12:32.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Nansemond Parkway between Withers Street and Beamons Mill Trail remains closed at this time, police say.
