VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Four people are now recovering in a hospital after an early morning fire ripped through an America's Best Value Inn hotel on Wednesday morning.

Around 1:54 a.m., the Virginia Beach Fire Department received word of a fire in the 5700 block of Northampton Blvd.

A crew reported that one room was fully engulfed when they arrived on scene. Crews say they stretched hose-lines but had to add additional sections of hose to reach the room on fire. The fire was said to be under control at 2:20 a.m. and reported out at 3:09 a.m.

Six people were evaluated by EMS Rescue, four were transported to an area hospital and no firefighters were injured, reports say.

The cause is under investigation and there are no further details to release at this time.
