Police have now identified the body that was found in a Portsmouth Pond earlier this morning as 53-year-old Wayne A. Taylor of the 5800 block of Campbell Street. He was reported missing on March 4th. Police say the area where he was found is an area he frequented.
Portsmouth police say they got a call around 10:06 a .m. on Tuesday morning about something floating in the man-made pond behind the Royal Farms Gas Station in the Churchland section of the city.
When police arrived, they found a man’s body in the water.Police say at this point, they are considering this just a death investigation.
At this time, police say there are no signs of foul play. They believe it may be accidental, but the case remains under investigation.
