Crews responded to an apartment fire in the 700 block of 48th Street Friday night.
When they arrived, crews say they found smoke coming from the front door.
After a search, they rescued a woman and child. They were then transported individually to Riverside Regional Medical Center.
The woman was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
There are no reported firefighter injuries.
