James City County police are looking for a suspect who is accused of trying to lure a 12-year-old into his vehicle.
Police say the 12-year-old girl walked to the school bus stop at the corner of Deerspring Road and Leon Drive at around 7:30 a.m. on Monday.
She missed the bus and started to walk back down Leon Drive when she saw a dark, green car drive up next to her. She described the car to be similar in style to a Toyota Camry or Pontiac Grand Prix.
According to police, the suspect asked the girl if she had seen his dog. When she said that she had not, he told her to get into the car. Police say the girl ran down the street screaming and the vehicle drove off toward John Tyler Highway.
Police say the vehicle driven by the suspect reportedly had a blue baseball hat in the back window with a messy back seat.
The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s with light green eyes and short hair. He was described as ‘grungy’ and he was wearing a blue T-shirt and jeans.
