Police say a worker was seriously injured Wednesday night on I-64 westbound when a man allegedly drove through a work zone and hit him.
Two lanes were closed to replace sections of broken concrete.
Thomas Ricky Moore, of the 1200 block of Laskin Rd, Va Beach, was driving a 2008 Dodge Avenger when he passed the crew filling the hole with concrete.
Once he passed the crew, Moore went between the cones and into the far left lane, which was closed.
He then struck a worker with the second crew that was operating a concrete saw.
The worker has been identified as Riguel Dexter Durant, of the 700 block of Woodbox Dr. in Virginia Beach.
Durant suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to Norfolk General hospital.
Moore was given field sobriety tests at the scene and was arrested for DUI.
