A soldier has died in Afghanistan while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
23-year-old Sergeant Nicholas Dickhut died Sunday in a fire fight in Kandahar Province.
The Minnesota native had just called his little brother to wish him a happy birthday. According to his mother, the fire fight happened right before he went on the mission.
Sergeant Dickhut served with the 5-20 regiment attached to the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
