Captain America costume stolen from Beach movie theater

Captain America is supposed to be a hero.

But if you see someone in Virginia Beach dressed up in the costume, they may not be a force for good, but a thief.

The costume of the Avengers star was swiped along with the mannequin it was on Saturday night in the lobby of the Regal Columbus Stadium.

Cathy Debolt runs the Echoes in Time costume shop.

For years they've put costumes of blockbuster comic book heroes in movie theaters, and none of them has ever been stolen until now.

"It kind of brings a little bit of something different to the theater just besides a poster or something like that. It kind of brings them to life," says Cathy.

Echoes in Time puts the costumes in movie theaters to draw people into their store. They may have them try it on or rent it for something like a kid's birthday party. Now with the Captain America costume stolen, it's not available.

"The kids look up to Captain America and think he's cool, the Hulk whoever, and then the dad comes in to rent it for the three-year-old birthday party and we don't have it," says Cathy.

The Avengers costumes have been taken out of the theater.

Echoes in Time is only putting out gear for kids' movies from now on.

"Yeah we won't be putting anything elaborate on there," says Cathy.

It'll stay that way until a hero can avenge the stolen costume.
