Update: Two arrested in Beach attempted robbery, shooting

Two suspects have been arrested in connection to an attempted robbery and shooting that occurred on May 3 in the 2000 block of Queen Victoria Court in Virginia Beach. 

According to police, the victim pulled into Queen Victoria Court when he was confronted by two suspects. They say the suspects demanded the victim’s property and one of the suspects then shot him. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspects have been identified as Ronald Lee Smallwood, 25, of the 4600 block of Hardy Drive, Suffolk, and Elvis LaJohn Tyler, 27, of the 300 block of Falling Lane, Virginia Beach.

Smallwood has been charged with attempted robbery, malicious assault, use of a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and conspiracy. He is currently being held without bond at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center.

Tyler has been charged with conspiracy to commit a felony. He was released on bond. 

This case is still under investigation.
