The Department of Defense announced Saturday that a sailor aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise was found dead in his berth.
Master Chief Petty Officer Richard J. Kessler Jr., 47, of Gulfport, Fla., was found in his berthing compartment on Friday.
He was assigned to Enterprise as a logistics specialist.
The Enterprise is currently deployed to the Fifth Fleet area of responsibility conducting operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
