Police: Woman shot by high-powered rifle in Chesapeake

According to Chesapeake police, a 38-year-old woman was shot in the abdomen in the 2700 block of West St. Brides Road at around 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

She was transported to Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries. She is now in stable condition.

Police say a small hole was discovered in one of the walls of the home. They say the woman was shot long range by someone who was operating a high-powered rifle. They do not have a suspect yet.
