Today, the Coast Guard says they medevaced  a man from a boat in Pamlico Sound west of Ocracoke.

They say the man was experiencing what appeared to be a seizure and sustained a head injury.

“In this situation, our close partnership with the Ocracoke emergency medical services personnel allowed us to embark an EMT aboard our vessel during our response to the medevac,” said Petty Officer 1st Class Travis Capps, the coxswain aboard the RB-S. “Having an EMT aboard the vessel allowed the patient to receive professional medical attention during our transit to shore.”

The 37-year-old man was flown to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, N.C.
