Kill Devil Hills, NC – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Reddy Ice truck on US 158 and Sportsman Drive on Tuesday.
The victim was identified as John Wiley Carlton, Jr., 44, of Kill Devil Hills.
Southbound traffic on US 158 was blocked for over an hour and a half during the response and subsequent investigation.
Police say speed does not appear to have been a factor, and no charges have been filed against the driver of the truck.
The Kill Devil Hills Police Department wishes to thank the residents and visitors who attempted to render aid to Carlton and who stayed to provide eye-witness accounts of the incident.
