Norfolk Police Department dedicates batting cage to community kids

Posted

Young Norfolk baseball players brought their bats to the NSU/Brambleton Community Outreach Center.

They are the first players to try out the new batting cage.

The Norfolk Police Department dedicated the new cage. It will give kids a chance to interact with our local police officers.

"It gives us a chance to let these young people see police officers in a different light, see them as mentors and people they can go to for help. It's a great thing for the community."

The batting cage will be indoors, so players will be able to stay cool this summer while practicing.

And when they want to play basketball in the gym instead, the batting cage will retract so that it's out of the way.
