A man charged with assaulting a Beach teacher makes his first appearance in court today.
Jason Dill is due for his preliminary hearing.
Investigators say back in April, Dill assaulted the victim, who was trying to stop a fight inside of the Jr. Market near the Oceanfront and Norfolk Avenue.
The victim, a Plaza Middle School basketball coach, was in a coma for nine days.
