Republican Senators John McCain of Arizona, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire were at a town hall meeting in Norfolk on Monday to discuss defense cuts.

The senators’ visit was on the same day as Virginia-based government contractors held a "stop sequestration" rally in Arlington.

The event, organized by defense contractors like Northrop Grumman, was held at the Crystal Gateway Marriott.

Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell addressed the crowd, speaking out against the one trillion dollars in cuts set to take effect on January 1st-- 500 million will affect the defense department.

Over 200,000 jobs in Virginia are expected to be impacted with 100,000 active duty military jobs across the country potentially on the chopping block.
