A soldier was killed in Afghanistan.
The Department of Defense says Private First Class Theodore Glende died Friday in Logar Province.
The 23-year-old from Rochester, New York was shot and killed when his unit was attacked.
Glende was assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team based in Italy.
