On Friday, the Coast Guard and the VMRC conducted a search for a father and son on the York River near Yorktown. They were in a personal watercraft officials say.
They say the 31-year-old and his 7-year-old son were overdue on a trip from the vicinity of Naval Weapons Station Yorktown to Gloucester Point.
A helicopter located them. Officials say the two ran aground in a marsh.
A VMRC boatcrew arrived on the scene and escorted them to the Gloucester Point boat ramp.
No injuries were reported.
