Virginia Beach police have identified the woman who was shot and killed at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront Tuesday morning.
The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Laurie Ann Escobar.
Police say that Escobar did not live in the apartment on 16th Street at the Oceanfront where she was killed but was visiting friends.
Police say the call came in at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday morning. An armed suspect entered an apartment in the 700 block of 16th Street.
According to police, the suspect approached Escobar inside the home and shot her multiple times.
The suspect then ran away in an unknown direction.
Police and medics responded to the scene, and found Escobar in the back of the home. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Neighbor Tammy McBride says she had seen Escobar at the apartment before and was shocked that she had been killed.
"I never thought that just one day we would get up and she would have been shot and killed right here," McBride explained.
