Newport News, Va.–A 29-year-old Newport News man has been arrested and charged after a woman reported that she was raped at knifepoint.
Police say at about 10:20 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, they responded to the area of 73rd Street and Warwick Boulevard.
They say a 33-year-old Newport News woman reported that she had been held against her will in a nearby apartment and raped.
She told police that she met the suspect at about 1:00 a.m. and went with him to his apartment nearby.
Once inside the apartment, she says the suspect locked the door and refused to allow her to leave. She told police he used a knife to physically and sexually assault her.
The suspect was identified and detained.
The suspect has been identified as Scott Neal Metzbower, Jr., 29, of the 300 block of 73rd Street. He has been charged with one count each of rape, abduction and assault with a knife in the commission of a felony. He was placed in the custody of the Newport News City Jail.
This case remains under investigation.
